Celluloid Film Review: The Lincoln Lawyer

Title: The Lincoln Lawyer

Year Of Release: 2011

Review Date: September 30, 2011

Rating: PG-13

Running time: 119 minutes

Box Office Gross: $85,507,593

Site Rating: 5 out of 10 stars

Family Warning: contains some sexual content, violence and bad language

"The Lincoln Lawyer" stars the handsome and charming, Matthew McConaughey, as a tough criminal defense attorney. At first, I thought the film was set in the U.S. city of Lincoln, Nebraska, due to the title, but it was not so.

The film apparently got its name from the main character, attorney, Mickey Haller, being driven around all day, by a round the way tough guy in a Lincoln car. The Lincoln serves as his office, as he has no fixed business address, well, other than his secondary one, a home office (my favorite kind).

Haller is sought out by a seemingly normal client, who claims he has been wrongly accused of a terrible murder, but as the film progresses, it is revealed, he is as a phrase I read recently, "Nuttier than squirrel doodoo." The film has many twists that are somewhat surprising.

Will Parliament Legally Compel The Law Firm Harbottle & Lewis To Disclose News Corp Evidence

Will the British Parliament and Metropolitan Police, legally compel the famous London law firm, Harbottle and Lewis, to disclose thousands of pages of evidence in their possession, testifying to widespread "criminality" at Rupert Murdoch's News International/News Corp.

Rupert Murdoch

The Judiciary Report believes it is in the public interest and therefore very necessary. However, according to Harbottle and Lewis, who is the legal representation for News International/News Corp, the Murdoch family has refused to permit them to release the documents in question, which the firm confirms, reveal a number of crimes being committed by the company worldwide.

When a thoroughly corrupt company engages in illegal phone hacking against missing, deceased kids, obstructing police investigations to find them, it's time something was done and a legal example made of them for such repugnant, devastatingly evil conduct.

Lawyer For Arnold Schwarzenegger's Mistress: She Was Not Paid

Mildred Baena and son Joseph

An attorney representing Mildred Baena, the mistress of actor and former California Governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger, claims she was not paid for the tell-all she granted Hello magazine. Yesterday morning, the Judiciary Report stated, Baena was paid for the interview, because as someone that grew up with British culture, I've always known Hello magazine, originally based in Britain and Europe, to do just that.

One goes to Hello for dramatized stories with airbrushing that makes one's breasts look buoyant. Her attorney stated a friend placed the article with Hello and implied she was not directly paid, but did not reveal if anyone close to her was compensated for the tell-all piece. Furthermore, why would one choose to break one's silence with a glossy mag, known for paying for sensationalized stories about tawdry affairs. If one is seeking credibility, why not go to a well-established newspaper that has a serious air to it. Not to knock Hello, because I've read the British version of it for years, but certainly Baena must understand why people would think that.
