A Mid-Week All White Party!

Dressing like a virgin really isn't my forte, but standing out in a crowd is. We were glowing with our all white attire and luminous accessories at a recent party my sister and I attended. It really is so hard to hold back on the drinking and partying in the middle of the week, especially because the 'big move' was taking place that following day. Our so-called solution? "Let's go without sleep and just go big tonight. If we're going to be hungover, let's at least make it worth it". Clever, really really clever. Point and case here is, we had a blast and definitely created a stir. We came home with no accessories, Poncho stains, a bruise and very little memory of it all.

Thank goodness for evidence  blackmail material  photos to refresh our memory.

Me and my partner-in-crime, Lieschen. Our lovely dresses are from Young Designers Emporium.

Pictured here with the birthday girl, Demi Moore.

Our awesome gal-pals!

What would a 21st birthday celebration be without those embarrassing speeches?

Funky cocktails on arrival!

Where the camera was, so were we.

My sister and I even painted our nails white.

Definitely my favourite photo of the night. All of us look completely wasted.

I have no idea who this guy is, but at least we had one thing in common...

Then we just danced the night away!

Happy 21st birthday, Demi - it's her birthday today! Have a fabulous day and year ahead! Please don't take me partying with you tonight. I don't think I'll survive another drunk night or hangover at work. Then again, it is Tequila Tuesday. Oh boy, rubber arm!

It's Friday and I...

... absolutely cannot wait for my best friend's Sailor-themed birthday party. This is my outfit.
... am hitting the gym really hard to be able to pull it off!
... received photos from the photographer who did a 'mini shoot' at the Woelag interview. Watch this space for uploads.
... will be paying some attention to our blog today. The logo is being designed as we speak.
... am being whisked away for a romantic weekend. I wonder what the boyfriend planned. Oooh!
... am very excited about our Beer Fest Competition! Have you sent me your entries yet? No? Click here to see how you can win a party with my sister and I at Cape Town Festival of Beer.
... am building quite a collection of YDE dresses! I just can't leave that shop empty-handed.
... am meeting up with all my gal pals tomorrow at the Mount Nelson Hotel for a champagne breakfast.
... really can't wait to see the music video for Dinosaur. Any day now!
... am counting down the minutes to the big move. Yes, yes, I will be driving you crazy with all my house-moving-talk.
... don't wanna work today (or ever, really)!
... couldn't care less about the royal engagement. Pfft.
... have started with my Christmas shopping. It is my favourite time of the year.
... will be on leave in less than a month. Bring on the holiday and relaxation!
... love my dark hair, but I'm over the fringe. Even though it looks cool, it's so unpractical on hot days.
... am just going to take it easy this weekend, because next weekend I have to squeeze in four events in three days PLUS packing. I'm going to need loads of energy drinks or super powers.

Happy Friday everyone!

Cape Town's First Beer Festival: Win a party with us!

Who ever said beer is a 'man's thing', really needs to rise to the occasion. Beer might not beat champagne or a nice Cosmopolitan, but I tell you, there's nothing like an ice cold beer on a hot day or hangover! People interact with beer just as much as they do on wine or whisky, male or female.

Cape Town Festival of Beer is the first festival to bring people together to celebrate beer and the art of brewing. Cape Town will be having its first beer fest from the 25th to the 27th of November 2010 from noon till 10pm, on the fields of Hamilton's Rugby Club in Green Point.

Now, just to prove to you that beer isn't something that belongs to the male domain, I'm giving two lucky gals a chance to come party with me and my sister (and you know, we have fun everywhere we go). Your prize will include a ticket to the Oktober-Fest-style Festival and a little goodie bag. All you have to do is either Twitpic a picture of you with a beer in hand (remember to include me in your Tweet) or e-mail me your picture. Every picture is an entry, so be creative to stand out from the rest. Leading up to the big day, I'll put some of the best pictures on my blog. So frauleins, if you like beer, festivals or a good party, then this giveaway is for you!

What to do at the Festival? If you're into Rugby, the final Springbok international game of the season will be screened live in the Carling Black Label tent. For the food-lovers, there will be a braai and cooking-with-beer competition, judged by Jan Braai. Furthermore there will be tug-of-war competitions (if you're feeling brave), live performances, food stalls and of course, loads of beer tasting. Just think: traditional South African festival.

And if you don't win? You can buy a ticket to the festival here or visit the website for more information. You can also follow Cape Town Festival of Beer on Twitter.

Go on and enter - the competition is now officially open! You have until Wednesday, the 24th to send in your pictures. The winner will be announced the next morning, 25th of November. If you're entering this competition, it means that you agree to the terms and conditions, and that you're available on the 27th of November. Further details will be arranged with the winners.

Good luck!!
Jemma

Terms and conditions:
The winners will be chosen by myself and my sister
Your entry might feature on my blog and FB page
Should you be the winner, you will be featured on my blog again
The prize is non-transferable
The competition is open to females over 18 only
Winners have to arrange own transport to Green Point
Winners have to be available on the 27th of November for the Festival
Each picture that is sent in, will count as an entry

I'm not dead!

By now, days since my last post, you must think that I'm six feet under. I'm here. I'm not dead. What have I been up to?

I bathed in my bikini while drinking and eating salty chips. No, I don't think I have a problem.

I played swing-ball for the first time in years! I was stiff for three days after this. Yes, I'm that unfit.

I went cocktail tasting. You can never be sure until you've tried 'em all. Ok, perhaps I have a drinking problem, but who's complaining?

I went to a Moulin Rouge party and that's where I lost my camera. Blame it on the a-a-a-alcohol!

I went for a mini make-over, followed by an interview with Woelag. My sister and I will feature on their webiste real soon. Video clip, photos... the works!

I went house-hunting and found a place. Finally!

I went cocktail-dress-hunting.

I partied with my cousin and we danced on stage all night.

This is pretty much it. I've been out and about, and also spent some time creating a Facebook page for our Twice the Taste blog. The blog is still not what we want it to be, but the Facebook page is updated daily with photos and statuses. Please like it.

Happy Monday! Let's hope this day goes by fast.

It's Friday and I...

... know I've been very quiet on my blog in the last week! Sorry peeps.
... am going to Wellington and Stellenbosch this weekend to 'observe' students' partying. Yes, kinda like a project. Partying for research is what I'll call it.
... love how my sister and my 'fan page' of Twice the Taste have grown in just three days!
... am hunting for the perfect dress to wear to a wedding. It's gotta be really sexy yet still appropriate for a wedding. I need help!
... was scared, or rather on the safe side, to change my whole look, but I did it and I fucking love it.
... signed the contract for our new house yesterday. I can't WAIT to move.
... had blanket-prints on my nails this morning, because the nail polish didn't dry properly. The yellow I had on before, looked better than the mess I have now.
... wish the 'office make-over' (more like 'make-under') will come to an end. Being high on glue and paint gets really boring after a while.
... need to start working on the Twice the Taste blog before I can start promoting it. Photo shoots, layouts and designs to be done.
... want to create a stir in JHB over the holidays. My sister and I feel like flying up, stay for a couple of days and just party party party!
... need (and want) new sunglasses for Summer! Miu Miu, Madonna D&G, yes please!
... still haven't replaced my stolen camera. Damn, I should've had insurance cover.
... would love to be a socialite full-time.
... am craving a chicken salad, which is not normal for me. Salads, that is.

I don't know about you, but I would give anything to go home and get this weekend started!
Go big my lovelies!
