With Ur Love: Cher Lloyd is supported by her man as she continues to promote her music despite recent Twitter threats

By Kirsty Mccormack

Lean on me: Cher Lloyd arrived at the Key 103 radio station in Manchester arm in arm with her boyfriend today

She may have been the victim of Twitter abuse last week, but Cher Lloyd is determined not to let them ruin her success.

The 18-year-old singer arrived at Key 103 radio station in Manchester today to continue the promotion of her upcoming debut album.

With her boyfriend, Craig Monk, by her side the former X Factor contestant looked happy as she arrived for her appearance on the airwaves.

Wearing an odd combination of colours, the singer teamed a pair of off white skinny jeans with an ACDC printed top, and although the sun was shining she decided to wear an over-sized bright blue baseball jacket on top.

With her brown curly hair in its usual side style, Lloyd also carried her belongings in a brown tassled drawstring bag and completed her look with a pair of black and tan coloured brogues.

Trainee hairdresser Craig on the other hand stuck to neutral colours by wearing a camel coloured pair of trousers with a grey printed t-shirt.

Brave face: Cher wore an odd outfit that consisted of off white skinny jeans and a bright blue baseball jacket and she completed the look with a smile

The pair have been dating since June, after meeting when Monk put in the teen singer's hair extensions at the Four Salon in Mayfair where he works.

And lately it seems that Lloyd's doting boyfriend seems to accompany her wherever she goes.

The singer also made an appearance on Radio One last week and arrived with supportive Monk in tow.

Young love: Cher met trainee hairdresser, Craig Monk when he put her hair extensions in for her earlier this year

Lloyd's debut album is due to be released in November, with the star's second single, With Ur Love, being released on October 30.

But at a time when Lloyd should be enjoying the build up to her album release, she has been the victim of death threats via Twitter after she posted a birthday message to her mother.

Today it was reported that the Swagger Jagger singer is calling for government intervention to halt online abuse from 'trolls' who torment others via social networking sites.

Cher Lloyd Twitter bullies prompt call for Government to stop online trolls

By Holly Thomas

Outraged: Cher Lloyd, pictured arriving for the Scott Mills show last week, spoke out on BBC Newsbeat against 'trolls' who engage in online bullying

Cher Lloyd is calling for government intervention to halt online abuse from 'trolls' who torment others via social networking sites.

The singer has said that not enough is being done to prevent such bullying at present.

The 18-year-old's comments come after she received a death threat via Twitter in response to a birthday message she posted for her mother on the site.

The Swagger Jagger singer spoke out on BBC Newsbeat to stress her concern, saying: ‘It disgusts me that online bullying - nobody really cares about it.'

‘No one has made a big enough impact to stop these people. I'd definitely like to see more done about it,’ she continued.

Cher believes that the responsibility to take preventative action lies at the top, and asked who should put a stop to such abuse said: ‘I kind of think it's the Government.’

Just over a week ago, the star tweeted 'Its mamma lloyds birthday!! Love you mum! Xxxx'

Almost immediately she received the disturbing reply: 'shut the f*** up before I kill your mum in front of you.'

Responsibility: Cher believes that the government needs to take more preventative action, and hopes to use her celebrity status to raise the prominence of the issue

In the heat of the moment Cher responded: 'I'm sure you'd go to jail for that and get into deep s***, come on think about it dumb a**,'

The singer deleted the message soon after she sent it, but the incident was immediately picked up, sparking a media furore.

Dealing with such an upsetting event in the public eye has naturally been difficult.

‘If I get a nasty tweet, or if someone shouts at me in the street that's really disrespectful to me or my family, I kind of wait until I go home,' Cher confessed. ‘You shut the door and then you can have a cry about it. No one needs to know.'

The anonymity the internet affords makes it easy for perpetrators to hide their identity, often meaning they are 'bolder' in their attacks than they might be otherwise.

Experience: Cher received a death threat via Twitter after she posted a happy birthday message to her mother on the site

‘It's strange because I think, would these people be big enough and strong enough to come up to me and say these hurtful things?' said Cher.

‘Because I've got the idea that they actually wouldn't. They would never, ever say that to my face,’ she added.

The star is determined to use her status to help others who may be suffering as a result of online bullying.

‘It's one thing writing to me - I'm getting stronger with this stuff, I can take it on the chin - but there are girls out there and boys out there that can't take that,' she said.

In the public eye: The singer rose to fame when she appeared on X Factor last year, and worries that this year's hopefuls may suffer similar abuse

Keeping her cool: Cher Lloyd puts on a brave face at Radio 1 following Twitter death threat

By Iona Kirby

Death threat: Cher received a threatening message from one of her Twitter followers

Cher Lloyd was putting on a brave face today after receiving an apparent death threat on Twitter.

The 18-year-old was subjected to the abuse after posting a message that wished her mother a happy birthday.

She wrote: 'Its mamma lloyds birthday!! Love you mum! Xxxx.'

However moments later the singer received a chilling message back from one of her followers.

It said: 'shut the f*** up before I kill your mum in front of you.'

And a riled up Cher was quick to respond.

First play: Cher's new single With Ur Love was played on the radio today

She hit back: 'I'm sure you'd go to jail for that and get into deep s***, come on think about it dumb a**.'

She deleted the posts shortly afterwards and appeared to have put the row behind her when she was photographed arriving at BBC's Radio 1 today.

The former X Factor contestant looked excited as she got ready for her appearance on the Scott Mills show.

Supportive: Cher's boyfriend Craig Monk accompanied her to Radio 1 today

Her new single With Ur Love, which features Mike Posner, was played for the first time on the radio during the broadcast.

Cher arrived at the studio with her trainee hairdresser boyfriend Craig Monk.

She wore a black and white polka dot blouse and tiny black shorts, and added a splash of colour to the outfit with a red fringed bag.

Cher will be hoping her new track, which is due for release on October 31, has as much success as debut single Swagger Jagger after it reached the number one spot in the charts.

Cute couple: Cher and Craig pictured together earlier this month

The love song is a step in a different direction for the singer with a softer sound than that of Swagger Jagger.

Cher sang Mike Posner's track Cooler Than Me in the Judges' Houses stage of the X Factor competition, but broke down in front of mentor Cheryl Cole because a throat infection left her unable to complete the performance.

Giving a nod to the incident, Mike can be heard singing in With Ur Love: 'I don't even care if you sing my songs wrong.'

Where's your Swagger gone? Cher Lloyd tones things down in a monochrome dress for night out with boyfriend Craig Monk

By Sarah Bull

Wannabe fashionista: Cher Lloyd toned things down in a monochrome dress as she attended Vogue's Fashion Night Out with boyfriend Craig Monk

She's made a name for herself through her outspoken attitude and incredibly unique sense of style.

But last night former X Factor star Cher Lloyd decided to ditch the crazy outfits and go for something chic and simple as she donned a cute black and white dress for a night out with her boyfriend Craig Monk.

However, the 18-year-old star did bring her own quirks to the outfit, teaming it with a pair of footless white lace tights and a half-shaved hairstyle.

Trainee hairdresser Monk, meanwhile, went for a printed T-shirt and brown trousers as he and Cher enjoyed the evening at Vogue's Fashion Night Out before continuing the party at Mahiki nightclub.

Cher and Monk have been dating since June, after meeting when Monk put in the teen singer's hair extensions at the Four Salon in Mayfair where he works.

The Swagger Jagger singer first hinted at a secret boyfriend back in June, where she wrote: 'I'm so happy I have my loyal fans, family, an amazing boy, plus a great team! LOVE you people.'

Quirky: But Cher did include some of her own unique touches, including white lace footless tights and her half-shaved hairstyle

When she appeared on Radio 1 DJ Scott Mills' show in July, she refused to be drawn on his identity and said she felt 'awkward' discussing her relationship.

And it appears he's supportive of her music career, revealing on Twitter that 'of course' he had downloaded her debut single Swagger Jagger.

When one follower suggested he was lucky to be dating the singer, he replied: 'I am lucky but I think she's just as lucky as I am haha.'

As she was: Cher is known for pushing the boundaries with her fashion sense

Cher has enjoyed huge success since releasing Swagger Jagger and, despite receiving negative reviews from critics, hit the top spot with the track.

And now she is hoping to recreate the success with her upcoming single Dub On The Track, which apparently features controversial London grime artist MC Ghetts.

A source told The Sun: 'Ghetts is known as one of Britain's most hardcore MCs.

X Factor return? Simon Cowell is said to be keen for Cher to perform on the show this year

'Cher is a big fan of Ghetts and personally wanted him on the track. It was her decision. It's also surprising Ghetts agreed to it. His street cred will plummet.'

If the track does well, Cher could be making a return to The X Factor later this year to perform for viewers and the finalists live on the show.

Simon Cowell is said to be keen for Cher, as well as other X Factor finalists Matt Cardle, One Direction, Rebecca Ferguson, Joe McElderry and Leona Lewis, to make a comeback on the programme.'
