Melanie Fiona, is the new heart & soul of R&B genre but if genius was a music genre, it would definitely be where she belongs. Melanie Fiona is a singer-songwriter from Toronto, Canada. She was born to Guyanese immigrant parents and grew-up in the inner city of Toronto. Melanie always knew music was her passion for the simple fact & remembrance of the days of her father as a guitarist in a band.
A younger Melanie would always sit on the stage and enjoyed when her father's band would practiced. She later earned a featured appearance on the Reggea Gold 2008 with "Somebody Come Get Me", which was produced by SUP DUB's of Black Chiney, a very huge reggea sound in Jamaica. Melanie also recorded a cover of "Heartless" which caught Musician/Producer Kanye West attention. Due to the great success of the cover song Kanye allowed her to open in the sold out concert during his European Tour in 2008.
Melanie Fiona's debut album "The Bridge" is slated for release on September 22, 2009 The debut single "Give It to Me Right" has been released to radio stations and has peaked at #39 on Billboard's Canadian Hot 100.
But since Melanie loves her fans very much, so she has collaborated with QUESTLOVE of The Roots band who produced a live soultry, tasty mixtape titled "ILLADELPHONICS MIXTAPE" A must have & listen to project.
